Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing regarding the equipment which I bought from your store which causing some serious problems.

Firstly, the mic that I bought is not working properly. As a music teacher, I am providing online music classes to people. During class time they do not listen me properly because of eco frequency of the mic.

This problem is affect my work because my students cannot hear me properly and having issues with understanding. Moreover, sometime I have to record songs for my audience and they always face issues while listening.

As I bought this mic with great enthusiasm and wanted to spread my work in all nearby cities. Now I want please send someone to my home to check its wiring or any internal issue. If this problem is not fixable please provide a full refund or replacement of this mic.

I hope you will understand my situation and try to fix this as soon as possible.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The letter addresses all three bullet points of the prompt: describing the problem, explaining the impact on work, and stating the desired resolution. The tone is appropriate for a formal complaint letter. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the description of the 'eco frequency' (likely meaning echo) is a bit vague, and the explanation of how it affects work could be more detailed to fully satisfy the requirements of a Band 7 response. Nevertheless, the purpose of the letter is clear, and the reader understands exactly what is required.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

The letter follows a logical structure with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a formal closing. Paragraphing is used to separate the problem from the requested solution. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Moreover', and 'Now' are used to link ideas, though the flow is occasionally slightly mechanical. The referencing is generally clear, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow throughout the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to communicate the problem effectively. There are some minor inaccuracies, such as 'eco frequency' instead of 'echo' or 'feedback', and 'fixable' which is slightly informal. While the range is sufficient to convey the message, it lacks the precision and variety of less common lexical items that would be expected for a higher band score. The word choice is functional but basic.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The letter contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'which causing' (should be 'which is causing'), 'do not listen me' (should be 'cannot hear me'), and 'this problem is affect' (should be 'this problem is affecting'). Additionally, 'if this problem is not fixable' is slightly awkward. While these errors are noticeable, they do not impede the overall meaning of the letter, and the reader can clearly understand the situation.
