Dear Sir or Madam,

I hope you are doing well. I am writing this letter regarding a laptop which I purchased a few months ago.

I have been using a laptop since 20 June 2026. It is a Asus Vivobook. Being an employee, I bought this laptop for my work. I am a Software Developer in MNC company. For the first two weeks, it worked really well.

But now, there is a issue which I faced while working. The issue is regarding the display. During my work, it automatically turns off which spoil my whole work. As a result, I have to restart the computer and start my work again. This problem directly impact on my working hours. Sometime, I have to work for longer hours just to finish my work without getting pay.

I would be really appreciate you, if you could fix screen problem . So that, I can complete my work on time.

I am looking forward to you. Thank you for your understanding.

Your Sincerely,

Harpreet

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The letter covers all three bullet points: the problem is described (display turning off), the impact on work is explained (restarting, unpaid overtime), and the desired action is stated (fixing the screen). The tone is appropriate for a formal complaint. However, the development of ideas is somewhat basic. For instance, the impact on work could be more professionally articulated to better reflect the urgency of the situation. Despite this, all parts of the prompt are addressed, and the purpose of the letter is clear throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the problem from the impact and the request. Cohesive devices are present, such as 'As a result' and 'So that', though some transitions feel slightly mechanical. The progression of ideas is easy to follow, and the letter maintains a consistent focus on the issue at hand. The structure is sufficient to meet the requirements for a formal letter.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. Phrases like 'spoil my whole work' and 'without getting pay' are slightly unnatural or grammatically incorrect. While the student uses some relevant terminology like 'Software Developer' and 'MNC company', the range is limited. There are minor errors in word choice, such as 'I would be really appreciate you', which indicates a need for better control over verb forms and collocations. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the message clearly but does not demonstrate a wide range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The letter contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'I have been using a laptop since 20 June 2026' (should be 'the laptop'), 'there is a issue' (should be 'an issue'), and 'This problem directly impact' (should be 'impacts'). Additionally, 'I am looking forward to you' is an incorrect collocation for 'looking forward to hearing from you'. While these errors are frequent, they do not impede the overall meaning of the letter. The student needs to focus on subject-verb agreement and article usage.
