Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points: describing the equipment problem, explaining the impact on work, and requesting a resolution. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter of complaint. The ideas are relevant and clearly presented, covering the keyboard issues and the download errors. The purpose of the letter is clear from the outset, and the request for a replacement or repair is specific. The response is well-structured and fulfills the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. Cohesive devices such as 'consequently', 'moreover', and 'as a result' are used to connect ideas, although some transitions feel slightly mechanical. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the problem description from the impact and the requested action. The flow of information is easy to follow, and the relationship between the technical issues and the resulting work delays is clearly established.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing for clear communication. There are some instances of slightly unnatural phrasing, such as 'draw your attention regarding' (should be 'to') and 'decided schedual' (should be 'scheduled deadline'). While the range is sufficient to convey the necessary information, it lacks the sophistication or precision of higher bands. Spelling errors like 'schedual' and 'promt' indicate a need for more careful proofreading, though these do not impede the overall meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response shows a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are several grammatical inaccuracies, such as 'laptop provided' (missing article 'the'), 'error occurred' (should be 'errors occur'), and 'I have to worked' (should be 'I have to work'). Additionally, 'prolong period' should be 'prolonged period'. While these errors are frequent, they do not prevent the reader from understanding the message. The control over verb tenses and articles needs improvement to reach a higher band.
