Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The letter addresses all three bullet points: the problem is described, the impact on work is explained, and a request for action is made. However, the development of these points is somewhat limited. For example, the explanation of how the problem affects your work is brief and could be expanded with more specific details about the nature of the software engineering tasks being hindered. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, though the opening 'I bought you' is slightly unnatural. Overall, the task is fulfilled, but the content could be more detailed to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the narrative. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite basic and sometimes repetitive. For instance, the frequent use of 'I am' at the start of sentences creates a mechanical flow. There is a lack of varied linking words to connect ideas more fluidly. While the progression of ideas is clear, the transitions between the problem description and the request for action could be smoother to improve the overall coherence of the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is sufficient for the task but remains quite simple. There are several errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'bought you' instead of 'bought from you' and 'works good' instead of 'worked well'. Additionally, there are spelling errors like 'gurantee' (guarantee). To improve, you should focus on using more precise terminology related to technical issues and formal business correspondence. The range of vocabulary is limited, which prevents the expression of more nuanced ideas regarding the urgency of the situation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The letter contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Examples include tense inconsistencies ('this device works good' should be 'worked well'), missing articles ('I am working in IT sector'), and punctuation errors in the closing ('your faithfully'). While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors suggests a need for more careful proofreading and a better grasp of verb tenses and article usage in formal writing.
