Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The letter addresses all three bullet points: describing the problem, explaining the impact on work, and requesting a solution. However, the development of these ideas is hindered by unclear expression. For instance, the description of the 'electric plugged issue' is confusing and does not clearly explain what the equipment is or why it is faulty. While the purpose of the letter is clear, the lack of precision in describing the technical problem makes it difficult for the reader to understand the specific nature of the request. To improve, ensure that the problem is described in a way that is logical and easy for a service provider to understand.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The letter is divided into paragraphs, which is a positive feature. However, the logical flow is frequently interrupted by awkward phrasing and grammatical errors. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes misused, such as the transition 'While, there have one VPN facility', which does not connect ideas effectively. The progression of ideas is somewhat disjointed, particularly in the second paragraph where the explanation of the home office setup is confusing. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each sentence follows logically from the previous one would significantly enhance the coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and often inaccurate, which occasionally impedes communication. Phrases like 'electric plugged issue' and 'this is the very loose from the began' are non-standard and difficult to interpret. There is a reliance on basic vocabulary, and the student struggles to use appropriate terminology for a professional request. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on learning collocations related to office equipment and formal letter writing, and avoid translating directly from their first language, which seems to be the cause of several unnatural expressions.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that affect readability. There are persistent issues with verb tenses ('i working', 'cannot working'), subject-verb agreement ('there have one VPN'), and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or lack the necessary articles and prepositions. While the student attempts to use complex structures, these are often faulty, leading to a lack of clarity. To improve, the student needs to focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that tenses are used consistently throughout the letter.
