Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The response covers all three bullet points required by the task. You clearly describe the laptop issue, explain the impact on your work (presentations and meetings), and state your requirements for a repair and a temporary replacement. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter of complaint. To reach a higher band, ensure that your ideas are slightly more developed; for instance, you could specify the exact nature of the 'performance decrease' to provide more detail. However, the task is fully addressed, and the purpose of the letter is clear throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each serving a specific purpose. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Due to all of these problems' and 'Therefore' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by minor mechanical errors, such as the missing word in 'As I work from' and the spelling error 'Therepre'. The use of paragraphing is appropriate, and the progression of ideas from the problem to the impact and finally the requested solution is logical and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly, such as 'high end hardware', 'seamlessly', and 'under warranty'. There are some spelling errors, such as 'opreating' and 'meanwhlie', and a minor collocation issue with 'give me immediate solution' (should be 'provide me with an immediate solution'). While these errors are noticeable, they do not impede communication. To improve, focus on proofreading for common spelling mistakes and using more precise collocations to enhance the professional tone of your correspondence.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'As I work from... I am not able to work properly.' There are several grammatical slips, such as 'my job require' (subject-verb agreement) and 'constantly turns off' (missing subject 'it'). Additionally, there is a missing word in 'As I work from' and a punctuation error in 'pr instance'. While these errors are frequent, they do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning. Increasing your control over subject-verb agreement and sentence construction will help elevate your score.
