Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: describing the problem, explaining the impact on your work, and stating your desired outcome. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter of complaint. The ideas are relevant and clearly presented. To reach a higher band, ensure that the description of the problems is slightly more precise; for example, instead of saying the keyboard does not operate well, you could specify that certain keys are sticking or unresponsive. Overall, the task is fully addressed with a clear purpose throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each serving a specific purpose. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Apart from this', 'Moreover', and 'Therefore', which help the flow of ideas. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and there are minor issues with sentence-level cohesion, such as the abrupt start to the second paragraph. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that the relationship between sentences is always smooth and natural.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully conveying the nature of the technical issues. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'complaint' instead of 'complain' (verb form), 'fastly' (which is not a standard adverb), and 'blasted' (which is an unnatural collocation for a laptop overheating). While these errors do not impede communication, they limit the precision of your writing. Expanding your vocabulary to include more formal, precise collocations would help elevate your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is good. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('These issues has created', 'it takes'), article usage ('the window'), and verb forms ('late for attend'). Additionally, there are punctuation errors, such as missing capital letters at the start of sentences and after periods. While the meaning remains clear, these persistent errors indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a stronger grasp of basic grammatical rules.
