Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir,
I am Anmol deep, employee of Honda company. I am writing this letter to inform you that my laptop is not working really well which I use it for my work. As I find that, whenever I turn on my laptop, the screen blinks again and again and I am unable to login it properly.
This issue gives me the hard time, since I am working online and I have to complete all of my targets within one week, which I am unable to do so; along with it, I have to attend all of my business meetings as well; consequently, it's putting really bad impact on my work.
I would definitely love it ,if the company will replace my current laptop with the new one, because I also bought 2yr protection plan on my laptop during my purchase time. So I would like to take one laptop instead of repairing it. I am looking forward hearing from you.
Yours faithfully,
Anmol.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The letter addresses all three bullet points of the prompt: describing the technical problem, explaining the impact on work, and stating the desired resolution. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of the impact on work is repetitive, and the request for a replacement could be more professionally phrased. While the task requirements are met, the response lacks the depth and professional polish expected at higher band levels.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into three distinct paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the narrative. There is a clear progression from the problem to the impact and finally the solution. Cohesive devices such as 'consequently' and 'along with it' are used, though some transitions feel slightly mechanical. The referencing is generally clear, although the flow between sentences could be improved to sound more natural and less like a list of points.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. Phrases like 'working really well' and 'gives me the hard time' are informal and slightly unnatural in a professional context. There is an attempt to use specific terminology like 'protection plan', which is good. However, the range is limited, and the student relies on basic descriptors. To improve, the student should focus on using more formal collocations and precise professional vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentences, but there are several grammatical inaccuracies. For example, 'I am Anmol deep, employee of Honda company' lacks an article, and 'I am unable to login it properly' is grammatically incorrect (should be 'log in to it'). There are also issues with punctuation and phrasing, such as 'I would definitely love it ,if'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the message, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall fluency.
