Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response successfully addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly described the technical issues with the laptop, explained the negative impact on your remote work, and provided a clear request for a resolution. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter of complaint. To reach a higher band, you could provide slightly more detail regarding the specific nature of the 'shaking' or the exact type of work you are unable to complete, which would further develop the ideas and demonstrate a more sophisticated approach to the task requirements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter follows a logical structure, moving from the purpose of the letter to the problem, its impact, and finally the requested solution. Paragraphing is used to separate these ideas, which aids readability. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat limited and occasionally mechanical. For instance, the transition between sentences could be smoother; using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in light of this') would improve the flow. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes slightly unclear, such as the transition between the purchase details and the description of the fault.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your message clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'purchased', 'inconvenience', and 'alternative'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'window of my laptop is started shaking' (should be 'screen') and 'on perfect time' (should be 'on time' or 'promptly'). To improve, try to incorporate more precise terminology related to technology and formal business correspondence to demonstrate a wider and more flexible range of vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, particularly with verb tenses and articles. For example, 'the window of my laptop is started shaking' contains an unnecessary passive construction, and 'i' is frequently written in lowercase. There are also issues with punctuation, such as missing spaces after commas and periods. To achieve a higher score, focus on consistent capitalization, correct verb tense usage (e.g., 'has started' or 'started'), and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed with greater accuracy.
