Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all three bullet points: describing the problem, explaining the impact on work, and stating the desired action. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of how the keyboard affects work is repetitive, focusing mainly on the need to input numbers. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific details about the nature of your work or the urgency of the situation. The letter is clear and the purpose is well-defined, meeting the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of your argument. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'This problem', which are functional. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of linking words could be more varied to improve the overall cohesion. Some sentences are quite short and choppy, which affects the natural flow of the text. Improving the use of transition signals and combining some shorter sentences would enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your message clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'presentation', 'productivity', and 'excel sheet'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'giving me trouble' (which is slightly informal) and 'put number of the daily sales' (which should be 'input the daily sales figures'). There is also a minor spelling error ('keyboad'). To improve, try to use more precise verbs and nouns that are appropriate for a professional business context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response uses a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the crack', 'the centre', 'the keyboard') and verb tenses ('was giving me trouble', 'it show C'). Additionally, there are issues with prepositions and sentence construction, such as 'waiting to hearing from you' instead of 'waiting to hear from you'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall accuracy of the text.
