Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all three bullet points required by the task: describing the problem, explaining the impact on your work, and stating your desired outcome. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter, and the purpose is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention the laptop overheats and the camera fails, providing a bit more detail on how these specific technical failures disrupt your workflow would have strengthened the response. Overall, you have fulfilled the requirements of the task effectively, ensuring the reader understands the situation and your expectations.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter follows a logical structure, moving from the introduction of the issue to the impact and finally the resolution. Paragraphing is present, though the transition between the problem description and the impact could be smoother. You use some cohesive devices like 'Another major problem' and 'For the meantime,' which help guide the reader. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by awkward phrasing and run-on sentences, such as the second paragraph where multiple ideas are joined with commas rather than full stops. Improving the use of linking words and punctuation would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'overheated,' 'considerations,' and 'assistant manager.' However, there are several spelling errors ('writting,' 'oour,' 'majpr,' 'thoghether,' 'forword') and some awkward collocations, such as 'the work is not working very well.' While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they do indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a wider range of precise vocabulary. To reach a higher band, focus on using more sophisticated synonyms and ensuring accurate spelling of common words.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. For example, 'I am writting this to let you know about the issues I face in my laptop' should be 'with my laptop.' Additionally, there are issues with subject-verb agreement and tense usage, such as 'It is gone be very helpful' instead of 'It would be very helpful.' Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several comma splices where full stops are required. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors limits the score.
