Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
You have addressed all three bullet points of the prompt: describing the problem, explaining the impact on your work, and stating your desired outcome. However, the development of these points is somewhat repetitive. For example, you mention the laptop 'gets hang' twice, and the explanation of the impact on your work is limited to general statements about not being able to work properly. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific details about the nature of the work affected or the specific technical failures, ensuring each paragraph adds new information rather than restating the same points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The letter is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite mechanical and repetitive. You rely heavily on 'As I face this problem' and 'because' to link ideas. There is a lack of variety in transition words, and some sentences feel disjointed. For instance, the transition between the introduction and the second paragraph could be smoother. Improving the flow by using a wider range of linking words such as 'consequently,' 'furthermore,' or 'in light of this' would significantly improve the logical progression of your argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety expected at higher levels. You use basic terms like 'plenty of problems' and 'not so good' repeatedly. There are also some issues with collocation, such as 'gets hang' instead of 'freezes' or 'crashes,' and 'inform that I face' instead of 'inform you that I am experiencing.' While your meaning is generally clear, the limited range of vocabulary prevents a higher score. Try to incorporate more specific professional terminology related to technical issues to enhance the quality of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the letter, including issues with verb tense ('I have face'), subject-verb agreement ('laptop do not working'), and article usage ('within a hour'). Sentence structures are predominantly simple, with limited attempts at complex sentences. While these errors do not completely prevent communication, they are noticeable and occur consistently. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that verbs are correctly conjugated and that articles are used appropriately. Increasing the variety of your sentence structures by using relative clauses or conditional sentences would also be beneficial.
