Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all three bullet points required by the task prompt: the student describes the problem ("the front side camera of my laptop is not working properly"), explains how it affects their work ("I am a HR assistant and I have to communicate with the other workers over the video call, now I am unable to do it"), and states what they want the company to do ("change the camera of my laptop... or you can refund the money"). The tone is appropriate for a formal complaint letter. However, the response has a negative impact on the task achievement score because the length requirement is NOT met, falling 3 words short of the 150-word minimum at 147 words. Consequently, this minor under-length constraint pulls the task achievement score down slightly to a Band 6.0, as some ideas remain slightly compressed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter maintains a coherent overall arrangement and follows a logical sequence from describing the issue to explaining the impact and finally requesting a solution. Paragraphing is attempted, though formatting and spacing around punctuation are somewhat irregular throughout the text (e.g., missing spaces after commas such as "well,it" and "call, now"). Cohesive devices are used adequately with phrases like "Additionally" and "if still it will not work properly". However, referencing is at times repetitive, and the mechanical flow suffers due to spacing errors and run-on structures. It meets the Band 6 descriptor where cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical, and paragraphing lacks complete polish.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating work-related terms such as "HR assistant", "video call", "warranty", and "equipment". There are some unnatural or slightly inappropriate lexical choices, such as "fretting issue" (instead of 'frustrating issue' or 'pressing issue') and "shopped this item" (instead of 'purchased this item'). Spelling is generally accurate, but word choice errors and minor awkward collocations prevent the score from reaching higher bands. Overall, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the message clearly, aligning well with the Band 6 descriptor.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating conditional structures ("if still it will not work properly, change the equipment") and relative clauses. However, there are frequent punctuation and spacing errors, such as missing spaces after commas (e.g., "well,it", "ago ,previously") and starting sentences improperly or using commas where periods or conjunctions are needed. There are also slight grammatical awkwardnesses like "Hope you are doing well,I want to let you inform about" (mixing 'let you know' and 'inform'). While these errors do not impede overall communication, they occur regularly, placing the performance firmly at Band 6.
