Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response successfully covers all the bullet points outlined in the task instructions. You have described the problems with the laptop, including the battery draining quickly and the screen and microphone malfunctioning. You also explained how these issues are affecting your work, specifically citing the stressful meeting incident with your manager. Finally, you clearly stated what you want the company to do by asking for either a refund or a product exchange. The tone is appropriate for a formal complaint letter. The ideas are relevant and fully developed in accordance with the task requirements, matching the standard expected for a Band 6.5 or 7.0 for Task Achievement. However, slight confusion regarding the item described as an 'electric pad' at the end detracts marginally from clarity.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter has a clear overall arrangement and follows a logical structure typical of formal correspondence, moving from the introduction of the problem to the impacts on work and finally to the requested resolution. Paragraphing is used to separate distinct ideas, such as the initial description of the faults in paragraph one and the work consequences in paragraph two. However, cohesive devices are sometimes faulty or mechanical, and referencing is not always clear, such as using 'it' ambiguously ('some work on it' and 'bought an laptop'). Furthermore, transitions between sentences can feel slightly abrupt. Overall, the organization provides a coherent reading experience, fitting the Band 6 descriptor well.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your message effectively. You attempted some less common vocabulary items and phrases, such as 'bring your attention', 'positive response', and 'regular customer'. However, there are noticeable lexical and spelling errors throughout the text, including 'an problem', 'i' instead of 'I', 'recentlly', 'an laptop', and referring to the laptop inconsistently as an 'electric pad' at the end. Word choice inaccuracies are present, but they do not severely impede overall communication. These features place your lexical performance firmly within the Band 6 category.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You have demonstrated a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and subordinate structures like 'when i was attending a meeting the microphone stopped working'. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, particularly missing capitalization for the pronoun 'I', missing articles ('screen is also giving', 'battery of the laptop'), and tense consistency issues ('manager were so angry'). Punctuation is also weak in places, such as comma splices ('shop, However, after'). While these errors do not completely obscure meaning, they occur frequently enough to prevent the response from achieving a higher band, aligning best with the Band 5.5 descriptors.
