Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all three bullet points required by the prompt. You successfully describe the problem by mentioning that the tablet has limited features and cannot run the required software. You explain how this affects your work by noting that it leads to failing tasks and creates detrimental effects on your work procedure. Finally, you state what you want the company to do by requesting a replacement with an advanced laptop or other device. However, there is some confusion in your opening context because you write to the shop or company that supplied the equipment, yet you state you are working in their company as a technical team head. This misunderstands the business relationship in the prompt, making the letter read more like an internal memo. Because the core bullet points are all addressed, this fits the Band 6 descriptor.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter has a coherent overall arrangement and follows the standard conventions of letter-writing by starting with an appropriate greeting and signing off with your name. Ideas are generally grouped logically, moving from introducing yourself and the problem to the consequences and your request. However, cohesion at the sentence level is occasionally faulty. You rely on basic connectors like 'Additionally' and 'However', and some sentences run together without adequate punctuation, such as 'our work is going easily as we have started our new project as work from home...'. Paragraphing is attempted, but the grouping of ideas into a single large middle block could be better managed with distinct paragraphs for the problem and the solution. These issues place your cohesion in the Band 5.5 to 6.0 range.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to convey the main message about equipment failure and work disruption. You attempt some less common lexical items, such as 'detrimental effects', 'technical problem', and 'technological laptop'. However, there are notable word choice errors and awkward collocations throughout the text. For instance, you write 'work is going easily' instead of 'running smoothly', and 'fails of task achievement' instead of 'failure to complete tasks'. There are also minor expression slips like 'limited features' (instead of 'limited functionality') and 'successful solution'. These frequent vocabulary inaccuracies and unnatural phrases prevent you from reaching Band 6.5, making Band 5.5 a fair reflection of your lexical control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating clauses using 'because of that', 'which leads to', and 'so I can work properly'. However, your control over grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are several run-on sentences and comma splices, such as 'All work is going well, expect the tablet...' and '...detrimental efffects to our work procedure, so its my responsibility...'. Additionally, you misspell 'expect' (instead of 'except') and make article errors like 'replace this tablets' (plural/singular mismatch) and 'advanced technological laptop'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough across your sentences to keep your grammar score at Band 5.5.
