Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You successfully cover all three bullet points required by the task prompt. You describe the problem with the wi-fi modem, explain how it is affecting your work by mentioning missed deadlines and a suspension, and clearly state what you want the company to do regarding fixing the issue, discontinuing services, or receiving compensation. Your purpose in writing is clear throughout the letter, and the tone is appropriately formal for a complaint. The ideas are relevant and extend to cover the personal consequences of the equipment failure. To reach a higher level, you could expand slightly more on the technical nature of the problem or provide more vivid detail on the specific troubleshooting steps you have already taken before contacting the provider.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
Your letter has a coherent overall arrangement with a logical sequence of ideas moving from the introduction of the problem to its impact and finally your demands. You use some basic cohesive devices, such as 'Moreover' and 'otherwise', to connect your points. However, the paragraphing is underdeveloped, as the body of the letter is compressed into a single dense paragraph rather than being separated into logical sections for the problem, the impact, and your demands. Additionally, referencing is occasionally repetitive, and some transitional links between sentences feel slightly mechanical. To improve, you should break the text into distinct paragraphs and employ a wider, more natural variety of cohesive phrases to guide the reader seamlessly through your argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate vocabulary range for the task, successfully attempting less common items and functional language such as 'formally complain', 'discontinue your services', and 'clarification'. However, your response contains several noticeable lexical and spelling errors that affect precision. For instance, you wrote 'from past 2 year' instead of 'for the past 2 years', 'accuring' instead of 'occurring', 'netwroks' instead of 'networks', 'effects on my work' instead of 'affects my work', 'losses' instead of 'lost', and 'appriciate' and 'companciate' instead of 'appreciate' and 'compensate'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they highlight a limitation in spelling and word form accuracy that prevents you from achieving a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating conditional structures like 'if you send someone... otherwise, I would like...' and relative clauses. There are, nevertheless, several grammar errors in your writing, particularly regarding prepositions and verb tenses. For example, 'I am using your services from past 2 year' uses the incorrect tense and preposition, and 'From few days the netwroks suddenly disconnected' lacks necessary articles and prepositions. Punctuation is also slightly flawed in places, such as comma splices and spacing issues before and after punctuation marks. These errors persist throughout the text, though they rarely impede the overall meaning of your letter.
