Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Gada electronics,
I hope this email finds you well.
I am writing this letter to make a formal complain about the product that you delievered to me as per my order. It is a Jio laptop that had been introduced to me by the store manager during my last visit there. This laptop is getting errors to operate the zoom app. The camera gets turn off while I try to connect with team through the app.
It is making it difficult to stay in touch with my colleagues and discuss about a really important project. This projest is essential for my career and the business that I am working for. Due to the failure of device functioning, my team could lack a golden chance to give our best results in the upcoming business seminar.
I would like to request you to make a arrangememt to replace the laptop at your expenses. Moreover, Please provide me a courtesy laptop by tomorrow evening at my residency.
I hope you would consider my request and take actions promptly.
Best Regards,
Simranjit Singh.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You address all three required points: you identify the laptop and its camera failure during Zoom calls, explain that this disrupts contact with colleagues and an important project, and request a replacement plus a temporary laptop. The purpose is clear throughout, and the possible effect on the business seminar adds relevant context. To make the ideas more fully developed, specify when the fault began or whether you have tried any troubleshooting, and clarify how the company should arrange collection or delivery. The request for a courtesy laptop “by tomorrow evening” is clear, but a brief reason for this deadline would make the request more persuasive and complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter follows a sensible progression from the complaint, to its impact on your work, and then to the action you want. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and links such as “Moreover” and “Due to” make relationships between ideas clear. This gives the response a coherent overall arrangement. Some connections are less smooth or precise: “This project” follows the reference to an important project, but the shift to the seminar’s “golden chance” is not fully explained. The opening and closing are also somewhat email-like for a formal letter. To strengthen progression, use clearer transitions between the project and seminar consequences and keep the tone consistently formal.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for a complaint, including “formal complaint,” “essential,” “failure,” “replace,” and “promptly.” These choices communicate the problem and desired remedy, and the reader can understand the impact on your work. However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “getting errors to operate,” “golden chance,” and “at your expenses.” There are also spelling and word-form slips, including “delievered,” “projest,” and “arrangememt.” These do not prevent understanding, but they limit precision and control. Aim for standard complaint-letter phrasing and check spelling carefully before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, for example, “It is making it difficult to stay in touch with my colleagues and discuss about a really important project.” The sequence of sentences is generally understandable, and the main message is not obscured. Some grammatical errors remain, including “a formal complain” and “a arrangememt,” where article and noun forms do not agree, and “The camera gets turn off,” where the verb construction is incorrect. “I try to connect with team” also needs an article or possessive determiner. Practise accurate passive forms and article use, and proofread sentence patterns. More consistently accurate complex sentences would improve control.
