Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address all three required points: you describe the blinking display and microphone problem, explain that it prevented communication during a work meeting, and request either replacement equipment or a technician. The reference to the laptop’s purchase date and warranty also supports your request. These details make the purpose clear and relevant. However, the impact on your work is only briefly explained, and the request could be more precise: for example, state whether you prefer a replacement or repair and ask when it can be arranged. The opening line is not a suitable formal subject line, and the closing could be more conventionally phrased. The task is substantially covered, but some ideas need fuller development and clearer presentation.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The information follows a broadly sensible order: the equipment problem is introduced, its effect on a meeting is described, and a solution is requested. However, the response is presented as one continuous block, so the reader has little visual guidance between the problem, its impact, and the requested action. Connections such as “due to this” and “so” are used, but the long sentence beginning “when i was in meeting” joins several ideas without clear punctuation, making the progression harder to follow. Use separate paragraphs for the problem and its effect, then the warranty and request. Shorter sentences and clearer links between each point would make the organisation more consistent and easier to read.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant vocabulary for the situation, including “laptop,” “display,” “meeting,” “IT department,” and “warranty,” so the reader can identify the issue and the context. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the message less clear. For example, “my voice not go threw” does not clearly describe a microphone fault, and “new equipment” is less precise than “replacement laptop.” Spelling errors such as “upcomming,” “technition,” and “appriciated” are noticeable. Aim for accurate, specific phrases such as “the microphone stopped working” and “request a replacement or repair.” This would improve clarity and make the letter sound more professional.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The letter communicates its main message, but grammatical errors occur frequently and some sentences are difficult to process. For example, “when i was in meeting in the morning today the laptop display was blinking” is missing an article and needs clearer sentence structure; “my voice not go threw” lacks an auxiliary verb and uses an incorrect verb form. The sentence about the warranty also combines several requests without clear grammatical boundaries. Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, including lowercase “i” and the run-on sentence ending “face.i am.” Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use full stops to separate the problem, its effect, and your request. More accurate control of these basic patterns would make your meaning easier to follow.
