Student answer (Band 5.0)
Dear Sir,
I have concerns regarding my laptop, which I use for my work at home. The main issue is that when I start my laptop, it takes a long time to Start, and the battery drains within 1 hour. Moreover, this issue affects my work every day as sometimes i attend the calls which reconnect due to battery . i areadly plug in the charge but it is not work properly. I start my work late . I have waranty for this, so i need to replace my laptop and give, me another one rather than this. I would appreciete for you , if you solve my proble,m within two days .
Your Faithfully,
Simran

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You cover the three main points: the laptop starts slowly and its battery lasts only an hour, this disrupts calls and delays your work, and you request a replacement under warranty. However, these points are only briefly stated, so the impact and requested action are not fully developed. For example, explain how often calls disconnect or what work is delayed, and specify whether you expect the company to arrange a replacement or advise you on the next step. The request to resolve the problem “within two days” gives a useful timeframe, but the letter needs more supporting detail. The response is also 34 words below the required minimum, which limits how fully you can address the task.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The information follows a generally sensible order: you introduce the laptop, describe its faults, explain the effect on work, and make a request. Basic linking words such as “Moreover” help connect the points. However, the letter is presented as one dense paragraph, and the sequence within the explanation is sometimes difficult to follow, particularly in “sometimes i attend the calls which reconnect due to battery . i areadly plug in the charge but it is not work properly.” Use separate paragraphs for the problem, its impact, and your requested solution. Clearer links between the battery issue, disconnected calls, and late starts would also make the progression easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough relevant vocabulary to identify the equipment and explain the basic problem, including “laptop,” “battery drains,” “calls,” and “warranty.” However, the range is limited, and several word choices or combinations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “attend the calls,” “plug in the charge,” and “give me another one rather than this.” Spelling errors including “waranty,” “appreciete,” and “proble” also reduce accuracy and may make the reader pause. Aim for precise, natural phrases such as “join work calls,” “connect the charger,” and “replace the laptop with a new unit.” A wider range of accurate service-related vocabulary would help you explain the issue and request more clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a longer sentence to connect the problem with its effect on your work, but the response relies mainly on simple structures and frequent errors sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “i areadly plug in the charge but it is not work properly” has problems with the subject, verb form, and sentence construction; “sometimes i attend the calls which reconnect” also does not clearly express who or what reconnects. Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, including lowercase “i” and spaces before full stops. Practise forming clear sentences with a subject and correctly conjugated verb, such as “I have already connected the charger, but the battery still drains quickly.”
