Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address the main requirements: you identify a fault in the ultrasound machine, describe patients experiencing a mild shock and unusual heating, and request a replacement or refund. These details make the complaint relevant and show the potential seriousness of the problem. The effect on your work is present, especially through the reference to patient recovery and your professional reputation, but it is less fully explained than the fault itself. Clarify how the malfunction disrupts appointments or prevents you from treating patients safely. The request would also be stronger if you specified a practical next step, such as arranging collection or explaining how to process the replacement or refund. The response covers the task, but some points need fuller development for a more complete letter.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a recognisable structure: it opens with the purpose, gives details of the malfunction, and ends with the requested remedy. Paragraph breaks help separate the main stages, and connectors such as “In addition” and “In conclusion” signal relationships between ideas. However, some links are mechanical or unclear. For example, “I shared my last patient complain” does not clearly connect the patient’s experience to your discovery of the defect, and “I wait for your decision related to this” is an abrupt ending. Use clearer sequencing—first describe the incident, then explain what happened with subsequent patients, and finally state the impact and requested action. A conventional closing would also make the letter feel more complete.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “ultrasound,” “mild shock,” “patient recovery,” “replacement,” and “refund,” which helps communicate the complaint. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “chronic conditions” and “ethical,” but several word choices or collocations are inaccurate and sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. For instance, “acknowledge about the issue” is not a natural way to introduce a complaint, while “red sign” and “defection” do not express the intended meanings clearly. Spelling errors such as “isuu” also reduce precision. Build a more reliable set of formal complaint phrases and check that each word fits its context; this would improve clarity while retaining the relevant vocabulary you already use.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a sentence describing the patient’s reaction and another explaining the possible risk. However, control is limited, and errors in sentence construction and verb forms often make the message hard to follow. For example, “which interrupt my working hours till purchased from you” lacks a clear grammatical structure, and “when I start the machine she felt” shifts tense inconsistently. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and punctuation, as in “the physio modality that is ultrasound” and the long, loosely joined sentence beginning “I shared my last patient complain.” Aim for shorter, complete sentences first, then add subordinate clauses with consistent past tense when recounting the incident. Careful proofreading for sentence boundaries and verb forms would make your meaning more dependable.
