Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
You identify the main issue—a table leg broke at the joint—and explain that this is affecting your ability to work and meet a deadline. However, the response addresses the task only minimally: it does not clearly say what you want the company to do, such as repair or replace the table, and the impact on your work is only briefly stated. The letter also stops before a suitable closing and contains 76 words, so it does not meet the required minimum of 150. To develop the response, explain when and how the fault occurred, give a specific example of the work disruption, and clearly request a remedy.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The ideas follow a basic sequence: you introduce the purpose of the letter, describe the broken leg, and mention the effect on your work. The time reference “yesterday” also helps connect the problem to its consequences. However, the response is presented as one long, unfinished sentence, so the relationship between details is difficult to follow. There is no clear paragraphing, request, or closing, and the final phrase about meeting a deadline is incomplete. Organise the letter into short paragraphs—for example, purpose and fault, work impact, then requested action—and use full stops to make each point clear.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the situation, including “table,” “legs,” “work,” and “deadline,” so the reader can identify the general problem. However, the range is limited, and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts of the message difficult to understand, such as “mornig,” “furnituer,” “yor,” and “dead line.” The phrase “cross joint” is also unclear as a description of where the leg broke. Use precise terms such as “table leg,” “joint,” “repair,” and “replacement,” and check spelling carefully. A wider set of accurate words would help you explain the fault and its consequences more clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts to connect events and consequences in a longer sentence, using “As I was working yesterday” and “since yesterday.” This shows an effort to express time and cause, but the sentence structure is often faulty and the message ends without a complete sentence. For example, “one of the legs got broken” and “it has effected my job badly that I was not able” contain problems with verb form and sentence construction; “I uses” also has incorrect subject–verb agreement. Use shorter, complete sentences and check verb forms and agreement. For instance: “One of the table legs broke at the joint yesterday. Since then, I have been unable to work properly.”
