Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir/ Mam,
I am writing this letter to express my inconvenience due to the wifi router I bought from your shop is not working and effecting my office work.
I had purchased a this device on the 25th of last Month from your shop in market. It is not been a one month and your router stopped working and not even providing range or connetion to my room. Due to this issue, my office work is getting hampered and I have to listen from my manager. Also, beause of this reason only, I had to visit to my office in morning for work.
It will be very helpful of you, if you could replace this router with the new one or else provide me with the refund, so that I can get the device from other store or either from online platform. As I cannot let this problem effect ofice work and damage my image in front my manager.
I hereby request you to acknowledge my problem and consider my request for replacement of the device.
I look forward for your prompt action on this matter.
Your Faithfully,
krishnkant.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You address all three points clearly: you identify the router’s failure, explain that it is disrupting office work and requiring you to travel to the office, and request a replacement or refund. The purpose remains clear throughout, and the details about the recent purchase and your manager help explain the urgency. To make the response more fully developed, specify what happens when you try to use the router—for example, whether it will not connect at all or loses its signal—and include a practical detail such as the purchase receipt or how soon you expect a response. The request is clear, though the final request repeats the earlier replacement request rather than adding a new detail.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The letter follows a clear sequence: you state the problem, describe its effect on your work, and then ask for a remedy. Paragraphing supports this progression, and linking phrases such as “Due to this issue” and “Also” help connect the explanation to its consequences. The closing is appropriate and reinforces your request. Some connections are less smooth because several ideas are packed into long sentences, particularly the sentence beginning “It will be very helpful of you,” which combines the replacement, refund, and reason for the request. Separating these ideas and using more precise references would make the progression easier to follow and the cohesion less noticeable.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the situation, including “router,” “range,” “connection,” “replacement,” and “refund,” so the reader can understand the main issue and requested solution. However, several word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems reduce precision: “express my inconvenience” is unnatural in this context, “listen from my manager” does not convey the intended meaning idiomatically, and “effecting” is confused with “affecting.” There are also misspellings such as “connetion,” “beause,” and “ofice.” Aim for accurate, natural phrases such as “disrupting my work” and “receive criticism from my manager,” and proofread carefully so errors do not distract from your message.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional request (“if you could replace this router”) and a reason clause (“so that I can get the device from other store”). The intended meaning is generally recoverable, but errors in verb forms, articles, and sentence construction are frequent enough to affect fluency. For example, “I had purchased a this device” has an incorrect article pattern, while “It is not been a one month” and “your router stopped working” need more accurate tense forms. The opening also joins the purchase and failure clauses awkwardly. Practise forming clear past-tense descriptions and checking articles and prepositions; shorter, well-controlled sentences would improve accuracy while you build range.
