Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear sir/ Madam,
Hope you are doing good
I am writing this letter to inform you that wifi connection is not working properly. Whenever I am going to dowmload something it always shows me poor connection.
However, I am working from home, wifi plays significant role in my life. I usually have meetings to attend, I have to prepare presentations, and There are numerous emails to work on. Because of the inconvenience of network I am unable to do my job in efficient manner.
Lastly, it is kind of request that can you please fix this problem as soon as possible. If you want to replace the settop box then I am ready to do that but please fix it.
I will be very thankful to you for your help.
Your's faithfully,
Dimpledeep Kaur

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three required points: you report that the Wi-Fi connection is unreliable, explain that it disrupts meetings, presentations and email work, and ask the company to fix the problem or replace the set-top box. The impact on your job is relevant, but the description of the fault is brief and would be clearer with details such as when it began or whether the connection drops entirely. Your requested action is also somewhat vague: specify whether you want a technician visit, a replacement, or another remedy, and give a reasonable timeframe. The response is 16 words below the required minimum, so it needs further relevant detail to meet the task fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: the opening states its purpose, the next paragraph explains the effect on your work, and the final paragraphs make a request and close politely. This logical progression makes the message easy to follow. You also use basic links such as “However,” “Because of” and “Lastly,” although “However” does not express a contrast in this context, and “Lastly” is not needed to introduce the request. The list of work duties is understandable, but the relationship between the connection problem and each duty could be linked more smoothly. To strengthen cohesion, use transitions that show cause and result accurately and connect the requested remedy directly to the problem.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main issue and its consequences, with useful task-related terms such as “connection,” “meetings,” “presentations” and “inconvenience.” However, the range is limited and some choices or combinations are unnatural, including “doing good,” “poor connection” and “in efficient manner.” “Wifi” is also better written as “Wi-Fi,” while “dowmload” is a spelling error that may distract the reader. Aim for more precise service-related language, such as describing an “unstable internet connection” or asking for a “technical inspection.” These improvements would make the complaint sound clearer and more appropriately formal without changing its meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mix of short statements and longer sentences, and the meaning is generally clear. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with articles, sentence structure and verb forms. For example, “wifi plays significant role” needs an article before “significant role,” and “I am unable to do my job in efficient manner” needs “an” before “efficient manner.” The request “it is kind of request that can you please fix” combines structures awkwardly; a more controlled version would be “I would be grateful if you could fix this problem.” Capitalisation is inconsistent in “and There,” and the closing “Your's faithfully” has incorrect punctuation. Practise accurate formal request structures and check articles and punctuation.
