Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both the benefits and disadvantages of visiting extreme locations. The ideas are relevant, such as personal growth and unique wildlife for benefits, and health risks and financial costs for disadvantages. However, the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the mention of 'wildlife whales, penguines' is brief, and the explanation of the disadvantages could be more deeply explored rather than just listed. The position is clear, but the conclusion contradicts the body paragraphs by calling the experience 'horrible' while simultaneously recommending it as a 'once in life' opportunity, which creates some confusion regarding the writer's stance.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'Considering the benefits', 'On the other hand', and 'To sum up'. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by awkward phrasing and mechanical transitions. For example, 'I mean to say their is camping facility' is informal and disrupts the academic tone. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as the use of 'this remote places' (plural/singular mismatch). While the overall progression is logical, the cohesion is somewhat mechanical and lacks the sophistication required for a higher band.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several spelling errors ('chosing', 'futher', 'exampples', 'treking', 'temprature', 'rsik', 'resilence', 'diificult') and collocation issues, such as 'people more like to famous' instead of 'people are more interested in becoming famous'. The range is sufficient to convey the main points, but the frequent errors in spelling and word choice prevent the response from reaching a higher band. The use of 'horrible experience' in the conclusion is also a poor word choice, as it likely contradicts the intended meaning of 'challenging' or 'demanding'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('this remote places has'), article usage ('the Sahara desert'), and sentence fragments or run-on sentences ('As temprature of such a places goes higher in daytime which can exceed 40degree, which can led to high rsik...'). These errors are noticeable and occasionally impede the reader's flow, although the meaning remains generally clear. To improve, the student should focus on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like verb tense and pluralization.
