Student answer (Band 6.5)
In modern world, people love travelling to all over the world. Nowadays, many individuals choose to visit extreme places like desert or Antarctic. There are lots of merits and demerits of exploring such location that I will mention in my essay and give some relevant examples.
Firstly, youngsters love travelling to the difficult areas. They acquire lots of benefits from it. They experience unique adventure, exciting challenges and improve personal growth. To illustrate more, People often go on trekking in wild jungle areas, and mountains where they got limited crowd and facilities. Afterwards, they acquire thrilling experience, lots of happiness and satisfaction after completion of this small track with limited facilities.
Furthermore, they can explore rare natural places with less crowded people and know about the local culture after spending some days at that location. Moreover they can spend money on that overlooked people so it boost economy growth.
On other hand, it also has some disadvantages while travelling like high risk of wild animals and extreme weather. For instance, people can get less medical facilities , lack of support at such location so they might get risk for their life while travelling. For example, group of people explored Sahara desert last year where one person dead due to lack of oxygen support due to dehydration in that extreme hot weather. In addition some visitors can harm local wild species and damage that area.
To conclude, people should explore some extreme places with basic training and physical fitness without harming natural environment and species.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both the benefits and disadvantages of visiting extreme locations. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the point about 'boosting economic growth' is mentioned but not explained in detail. The example regarding the Sahara desert is relevant but lacks sufficient depth to fully support the argument. The position is clear, but the essay would benefit from more detailed elaboration on the points raised to reach a higher band. Overall, it covers all parts of the task, meeting the requirements for a Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Furthermore', 'Moreover', and 'On other hand' are used to link ideas. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. Referencing is generally clear, though there are minor issues with flow between sentences. The progression of ideas is logical, but the internal structure of the paragraphs could be more sophisticated to achieve a higher score. It meets the criteria for Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary such as 'extreme weather', 'dehydration', and 'natural environment'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'less crowded people' (instead of 'fewer people') and 'overlooked people' (which is unclear). The range is sufficient to communicate the message, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. It sits comfortably at a Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'In modern world' (missing article), 'one person dead' (missing verb 'died'), and 'get risk for their life'. Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor errors in sentence construction. The errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. The control of grammar is consistent with Band 6.0.
