Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses both the benefits and disadvantages of extreme tourism. The ideas are relevant and clearly presented, such as the personal challenge/achievement aspect and the environmental awareness benefit, contrasted with health risks and ecological disruption. However, the development is somewhat limited; for instance, the point about environmental awareness could be more deeply explored rather than just mentioned. The conclusion is incomplete, which is a minor omission. Overall, the response covers all parts of the prompt well, though it lacks the depth required for a higher band score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect of the prompt. Cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'On the other hand', and 'Thus' are used to guide the reader through the arguments. However, there are some instances where the flow is slightly mechanical, and referencing is occasionally imprecise (e.g., 'the environment' is used broadly). Paragraphing is used appropriately, and the progression of ideas is generally clear, though the abrupt ending of the conclusion slightly impacts the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'adverse conditions', 'native ecosystem', and 'expedition'. However, there are several spelling errors ('adventerous', 'dessert' instead of 'desert', 'expiditon', 'penguines', 'destinstions', 'uniqw') and some awkward collocations ('bad going with the environment', 'health concern'). While these errors are noticeable, they do not significantly impede communication. To reach a higher band, the student needs to improve spelling accuracy and use a wider range of precise, academic vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the places', 'the Sahara dessert'), subject-verb agreement ('there is an increase', 'most of the visitors are not prepared of'), and preposition usage. Punctuation is generally functional, but there are missing commas and some capitalization issues. The errors are frequent enough to be noticeable but rarely prevent the reader from understanding the intended meaning. Increased attention to basic grammatical accuracy and sentence structure variety is recommended.
