Student answer (Band 7.0)

In recent years, an increasing number of travellers has chosen to visit the challenging tourist attractions. Although these places offer an extraordinary experience and personal growth, there is a high possibility of facing unknown risks which I will discuss in the following paragraphs.

A significant benefit of visiting attractions is that it bring the opportunity to explore breathtaking landscapes and the natural beauty of untouched places as very few people get the chance to explore them. These unique trips enable tourists to witness the spectacular scenery, observe rare species of wildlife and gain a deep experience of connection and appreciation for nature. Moreover, visiting such difficult attractions helps an individual to develop adaptability and problem-solving skills which are useful in their future growth. For instance, visiting the Sahara Desert can be a life-changing experience for some but it increases awareness for people who wish to explore it.

However, visiting these destinations also have several drawbacks. The most obvious disadvantage is the potential danger from sudden temperature change, unpredictable natural disasters, limited understanding and medical resources. Also, It could be fragile for nature if tourists make changes out of curiosity and further disturb the wildlife and increase damage and pollution. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses both the benefits and disadvantages of visiting extreme environments. The position is clear throughout, and the ideas are relevant. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention 'adaptability and problem-solving skills,' this point is not fully explained or illustrated with a concrete example. Similarly, the environmental impact section is a bit brief. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is supported by a more detailed explanation or a specific, well-integrated example. The conclusion is also incomplete, as the final sentence cuts off abruptly, which affects the overall task completion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. You use cohesive devices such as 'Although,' 'Moreover,' 'However,' and 'For instance' to guide the reader through your arguments. However, there are some instances where the flow is slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally repetitive. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the abrupt ending of the final paragraph disrupts the overall coherence of the conclusion. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that ideas flow more naturally between sentences would enhance the cohesion of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'breathtaking landscapes,' 'unpredictable natural disasters,' and 'fragile.' There are some minor errors in word choice, such as 'visiting attractions' (which is vague) and 'difficult attractions' (which is not a standard collocation). You also have a few spelling errors, such as 'jurney.' While you attempt to use less common vocabulary, the precision is sometimes lacking. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring that your word choices are contextually appropriate for the topic of extreme tourism.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'it bring' instead of 'it brings,' 'destinations also have' instead of 'has,' and 'experience which provide' instead of 'provides'). Additionally, there are some punctuation and phrasing errors, such as 'Also, It could be fragile.' While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and proofreading for minor slips will help improve your accuracy.
