Student answer (Band 6.5)

It has been observed that in this contemporary epoch, tourism is getting massive growth, people are visiting places which are famous for their extremely hot/cold climate such as Antarctic and Sahara desert. Every coin has two sides, similarly the benefits of visiting these places are exposure and research for documenting details which can thus help other tourist Nonetheless, it also has drawbacks, visiting these places can result in serious health related problems.

To begin with, it requires enough courage to visit places with high/low temperature as your body reacts in an unusual manner. One of the main reason, behind these visits are tourist want to get the exposure of how unpleasant the condition can be. They want to experience, what actually happens there during day/night which scares other tourist visit. To add on, researchers and scientist also visit to collect data and fossils, which they mention in their documentary and also mentions the positive and negative aspects of these particular regions. To elucidate, SASA is a team, equipped with professional researchers who visits dangerous places and live there for a while, they monitor each detail happening and share them on their online platform which excites the viewers.

However, it has also been seen that foreign tourists are enthusiastic, they never stop them from doing anything scary and as a result sometimes end up in a worst nightmare. Visiting extinct areas, with significantly high/low condition can lead to several health issues such as dehydration and cold sores. Many skin related diseases are caught by tourist after visiting these areas, hot sun burns the sensitive layers of skin ergo, their whole body gets red and it takes a while in curing.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both the benefits and disadvantages of visiting extreme environments. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you mention research and personal exposure as benefits, the explanation of these points lacks depth. For instance, the example of 'SASA' is vague and does not clearly link back to the general tourist experience. The disadvantages are better supported with specific examples like dehydration and sunburn. To improve, ensure that each point is fully explained with a clear logical link to the prompt, rather than listing ideas briefly. The position is clear, but the overall argument could be more robustly supported.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with,' 'However,' and 'To conclude,' which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'To add on' and 'ergo,' which is used incorrectly in this context. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly in the second paragraph where the connection between researchers and the average tourist is not fully bridged. Improving the variety and accuracy of your linking words will help the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'contemporary epoch,' 'dehydration,' and 'sensitive layers.' However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and awkward phrasing, such as 'extinct areas' (likely meaning 'extreme' or 'remote'), 'in curing,' and 'scary weather condition places.' These errors occasionally impede the precision of your meaning. To reach a higher band, focus on using collocations more accurately and avoiding repetitive or overly simplistic descriptors. Expanding your vocabulary to include more topic-specific academic terms would also be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'tourist want,' 'researchers... visits') and punctuation errors, such as the misuse of commas and slashes. Some sentences are run-on or lack necessary articles. While these errors do not completely prevent understanding, they are frequent enough to distract the reader. Focusing on consistent subject-verb agreement and refining your use of complex sentence structures will significantly improve your score in this area.
