Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both the benefits and disadvantages of visiting extreme locations. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the argument that visiting harsh climates improves immunity is scientifically questionable and lacks depth. The discussion on disadvantages is also brief, focusing primarily on medical access. While a clear position is maintained throughout, the ideas could be extended with more specific examples or logical reasoning to reach a higher band. The essay meets the minimum length requirement, but the arguments remain at a surface level.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Furthermore', 'Whereas', and 'In conclusion', though some are used mechanically or with slight inaccuracies (e.g., 'In my opinion, while, locations...'). The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the flow between sentences is occasionally interrupted by grammatical errors. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the benefits and drawbacks, which helps the reader follow the structure of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There are frequent spelling errors, such as 'prons' (pros), 'servive' (survive), 'though' (tough), 'chanllanges' (challenges), 'rememberable' (memorable), 'accessable' (accessible), 'emeragncey' (emergency), and 'extreamly' (extremely). These errors are noticeable and detract from the overall quality of the writing. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'medical assistance' and 'execution', the persistent spelling issues and limited range of collocations prevent a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'visiting... have become'), incorrect word forms (e.g., 'sense of confident' instead of 'confidence'), and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'same injury become a choose of death'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction is high enough to impede the flow of the text.
