IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Today more and more tourists are visiting places where conditions are difficult, such as the Sahara desert or the Antarctic.

What are the benefits and disadvantages for tourists who visit such places?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

 

Student answer (Band 6.5)

Nowadays, individuals like to explore unique places. This is becoming a trend due to social media and globalization. As a result, we can see positive and negative sides of this trend.

On the positive side, now people are busy in their lives due to work pressure and high living standards. They are repeating the same pattern every single day to live their life. They are visiting unique places with challenging conditions so they can find peace of mind away from big cities, in peaceful nature. Moreover, life in the cities is very crowded. Hence, more people are interested in places with harsh weather conditions because of the very low population they get chance to spend more time with themselves and nature to gain true peace of mind away from the burden of work. In addition, they also gain more experience by exploring these parts of the globe that life is different in different in other nations according to their weather conditions and culture.

On the other side, these trips can also push us under some challanges if we will not be fully prepared for our journey. Because in these areas basic needs are not easy to fulfill without proper local
