Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response is significantly under the required 250-word minimum, containing only 75 words. Because the essay is incomplete and stops mid-sentence, it fails to address the prompt's requirements for a balanced discussion of benefits and disadvantages. The ideas are not developed, and the response lacks a conclusion or sufficient supporting examples. According to the IELTS criteria, a response that is severely under-length cannot be fully assessed for task development, as the argument is not sustained. To improve, you must ensure you write at least 250 words by fully exploring each point with specific examples and logical explanations.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response shows a basic attempt at paragraphing, but the text is cut off abruptly. There is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with' and 'Moreover', but these are not followed by complete, coherent thoughts. The logical progression is interrupted by the premature end of the essay. To achieve a higher score, you need to ensure that each paragraph contains a clear topic sentence, supporting arguments, and a concluding thought, all linked together with a variety of cohesive devices that guide the reader through your argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is functional but limited. Phrases like 'environmental condition is really bad' are simplistic and lack the precision expected at higher levels. There is little evidence of less common lexical items or idiomatic language. The word choice is repetitive and basic. To improve, focus on using more descriptive and academic vocabulary, such as 'harsh climates' instead of 'bad conditions' and 'extreme environments' instead of 'places where the environmental condition is bad'. Expanding your range of vocabulary will help you express complex ideas more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The grammar is generally understandable, but the range of structures is very limited. There are errors in sentence construction, such as the fragment 'To begin with , exploring the different parts of the world where the weather conditions are unpredictable.' This is not a complete sentence. The use of punctuation is also inconsistent. To improve, you should practice constructing complex sentences using subordinating conjunctions (e.g., although, despite, whereas) and ensure that every sentence has a clear subject and verb. Focus on accuracy in basic sentence structures before attempting more complex ones.
