Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying benefits (educational opportunities, skill development) and disadvantages (health risks, environmental damage). However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the claim that blood becomes cold and starts freezing is scientifically inaccurate and distracts from the argument. While the position is clear, some points, such as the mention of 'marine life' in the Sahara, are confusing and lack logical support. To reach a higher band, you should focus on providing more precise, realistic examples and ensuring that your arguments are fully developed rather than just listed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the positive side', 'Firstly', and 'On the other hand', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Such as, human body cannot tolerate...'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate for the task, but the internal cohesion needs more variety and natural phrasing to move beyond a band 6.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You attempt some topic-specific vocabulary like 'ecosystem', 'contaminate', and 'critical-thinking'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'address life-threating condition' (instead of 'pose life-threatening risks') and 'un-touches natural places' (instead of 'untouched'). Some phrasing is repetitive, and the range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, preventing a higher score. Focusing on collocations and more precise academic terminology would significantly improve your lexical range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, they often contain grammatical errors, such as 'A growing number of visitors... exploring' (missing auxiliary verb) and 'trip to severe environmental condition would be caused' (incorrect passive voice). There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement and article usage (e.g., 'the Sahara desert', 'the Antarctic'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and ensuring consistent verb tense usage.
