Student answer (Band 5.0)

In recent years, many researchers and scientists has preferably visited areas with harsh atmostphere such as Sahara desert and Antarctic.

unarguably, the sudden trends of tourists and other people with different intentions to choose such an environment has raised a lot of questions as to what benefits and disadvantages of going to such a place.

One of the opinion suggested that the reasons why scientists and researchers visit such places is because a lot of discoveries are made and due to the natural settings which people often time find attractive because of it's beautiful views.

On the other hand, the most significant implication of such environment will be health concerns of the people going for the trip, the extreme weather condition, which has be described as either extreme cold or hot. And the challenges of medical assistance in the event of health related issues.

I totally agree that visiting such places is attached with a lot of benefits, which might include discovery of some historic site and the breath taking natural views. which can no

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, as it is only 175 words long. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, as the essay is incomplete and ends abruptly mid-sentence. While the prompt asks for both benefits and disadvantages, the discussion remains superficial and lacks the necessary depth and supporting examples required for a higher band. The position is not clearly maintained throughout, and the lack of a conclusion further limits the task achievement. To improve, you must ensure you write at least 250 words, fully develop your arguments with specific examples, and provide a clear, structured conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay shows some attempt at logical organization, with paragraphs introduced for different aspects of the topic. However, the progression is hindered by the incomplete nature of the text. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the other hand' and 'In recent years', but the overall flow is disjointed. The paragraphing is present but ineffective because the ideas are not fully developed. The abrupt ending makes it difficult to assess the overall coherence of the argument. To improve, focus on using a wider range of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence followed by supporting details that lead to a logical conclusion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision expected for higher bands. There are several errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'sudden trends of tourists' and 'harsh atmostphere'. The spelling error 'atmostphere' and the misuse of 'it's' (possessive 'its' is required) indicate a need for more careful proofreading. The range of vocabulary is limited, relying on simple descriptors like 'beautiful' and 'extreme'. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and ensure correct word forms and spelling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('researchers and scientists has preferably visited') and incorrect verb forms ('which has be described'). The sentence structures are relatively simple, and there are errors in punctuation and sentence completion, such as the sentence fragment 'which can no'. The use of complex structures is limited and often inaccurate. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement, verb tenses, and sentence structure. Practice writing complete, grammatically correct sentences before attempting more complex structures.
