Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the essay introduces the topic and attempts to outline benefits and disadvantages, the arguments are underdeveloped and fragmented. The second half of the essay consists of incomplete sentences and disconnected thoughts, failing to provide a balanced discussion of the disadvantages as requested by the prompt. The position is stated in the introduction, but the lack of coherent supporting evidence and the failure to complete the task mean that the response only partially addresses the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a logical structure. While there is an attempt to use transition words like 'To commence with' and 'Nevertheless', the progression of ideas is severely disrupted by the incomplete nature of the later paragraphs. Paragraphing is present but ineffective because the content within the paragraphs is disjointed. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the lack of a concluding paragraph leaves the essay feeling unfinished. The overall arrangement is not coherent due to the fragmented sentences and lack of flow between the points raised.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are some attempts at more sophisticated language, such as 'rejuvenate', 'proactive', and 'proliferation', but these are often used in contexts that feel slightly unnatural or imprecise. There are also errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'excursion to the places' and 'tourist attractive spot places'. The vocabulary is repetitive in places, and the limited development of the essay restricts the opportunity to demonstrate a wider range of lexical items.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Examples include 'a person should allowed an autonomy' (missing auxiliary verb) and 'where -45 degree temperature which is an uphill task' (fragmented sentence structure). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly in the latter half of the text. While some sentences are clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevents the response from reaching a higher band.
