Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both the benefits and disadvantages of visiting extreme environments. However, the development of ideas is limited and often lacks clarity. For instance, the point about the economy is mentioned but not fully explained, and the argument regarding environmental damage in the Antarctic is somewhat confusingly phrased (e.g., 'more ice will melted'). While the response covers all parts of the prompt, the ideas are under-developed, and the position is not consistently clear throughout the essay. To improve, you should focus on providing more specific, logical explanations for your points rather than listing them briefly.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is often disjointed. While you use basic cohesive devices like 'To begin with', 'Secondly', and 'To condued with', the internal flow within paragraphs is frequently interrupted by grammatical errors and unclear referencing. For example, the transition between the economic benefits and the environmental disadvantages is abrupt. The use of referencing is sometimes confusing, making it difficult for the reader to follow the logical development of your argument. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one will help improve your score in this area.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, often relying on basic or inaccurate word choices. There are several instances of incorrect word forms or collocations, such as 'boots the economy' (should be 'boost') and 'fesilities' (facilities). You also struggle with spelling and word choice, such as 'condued' instead of 'conclude' and 'authories' instead of 'authorities'. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of precision and the frequent errors in word formation restrict the range of vocabulary. You should aim to learn more topic-specific vocabulary related to tourism and environmental impact and practice using these words in correct contexts.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are significant issues with verb tenses (e.g., 'If visitors came at same time', 'more ice will melted'), subject-verb agreement, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or lack necessary articles and prepositions, such as 'If conditions are difficult over their day by day'. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with errors in complex constructions. To reach a higher band, you need to focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct verb tense usage, and reducing the frequency of errors that make your writing difficult to read.
