Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the essay attempts to address both benefits and disadvantages, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack sufficient detail or relevant examples. For instance, the point about 'war' is unclear and not effectively linked to tourism in extreme environments. The conclusion is missing entirely, and the final sentence is incomplete, leaving the task unfinished. To improve, you must ensure all parts of the prompt are fully explored with clear, logical support and that the response meets the length requirement to allow for full development of your ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is hindered by the incomplete nature of the text. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'the first positive is' and 'another positive is', but they are somewhat mechanical. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the lack of a concluding paragraph disrupts the overall flow. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence followed by well-developed supporting points that lead naturally to a logical conclusion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. There are instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'mostly visitors are just visiting' and 'the pros are too much'. Some words are used incorrectly, such as 'possiblity to publish' instead of 'possibility to publicise'. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the range of vocabulary is not sufficient to demonstrate flexibility or precision. You should aim to use more precise terminology related to tourism and environmental challenges, and work on improving your collocation skills to sound more natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('people who did have experience'), article usage ('the Sahara desert'), and sentence structure. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas and periods. While there is an attempt at complex sentences, they are often marred by errors that occasionally impede the reader's understanding. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring consistent verb tenses, and proofreading for punctuation errors before submitting your work.
