Student answer (Band 6.0)

In today's world most visitors are going to tours on such places where it is very difficult to survive like the Antarctic Continent or the Sahara desert. No doubt there are lot of advantages for tourists but its disadvantages cannot be ignored by us.

Firstly, the main benefit is that when tourists visit and live in these types of places where conditions for living are not much easy. It would help them to know more and deep about the problems that why anyone can not reside in that place. After that they can tell other people about those problems which they faced there. Then, people can share their ideas about solving the problems and could find the solution for that specific problem. For example: if any tourist visit Sahara Desert, then they came to know about the shortage of water. This would help them to think that they should consume water accordingly and avoid wastage of natural resources. They would also inspire other people to do the same. Moreover, everyone got to know that things they are using for free and without care, some people really pay for it and still get some amount of it.

Like every coin has two sides. Same it has some disadvantages such as risk to their life. To explain it in detail, some people visit to new places for fun and to feel refresh. Furthermore, they want to explore new places on earth. But sometimes, they ignore the threats that can occur while touring to new places. For instance: there are some news that shows that few people died while visiting Antarctica. Though the cases are rare still it is place where snow can be seen everytime. So visiting such places is very hard by knowing that anything can happen anytime. But few people still visit just to explore new things. I do not think this is right by playing with our lives by knowing that it can be risky. So what I think is government should amend some rules to visit such places according to seasons or monthly time.

No doubt people are visiting difficult places today, where life can be at risk. And, there are many benefits and disadvantages for visitors who visits these places.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both the benefits and disadvantages of visiting extreme environments. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. For instance, the argument regarding water conservation is a bit tenuous and not fully connected to the experience of visiting the Sahara. The position is clear, but the explanation of the benefits could be more sophisticated. To reach a higher band, you should provide more concrete, real-world examples and ensure that each point is fully explored rather than just stated. The conclusion is a bit brief and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented in the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Moreover', and 'Furthermore'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and some transitions feel forced or slightly unnatural. For example, the phrase 'Like every coin has two sides' is a cliché that does not transition smoothly into the next paragraph. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'Same it has some disadvantages', which lacks a clear antecedent. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between ideas would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'very difficult to survive' and 'new places'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'monthly time' and 'feel refresh' (should be 'refreshed'). While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'natural resources' and 'amend some rules', the overall lexical range is limited. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and academic vocabulary to express your ideas more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'everyone got to know', 'few people still visit'), incorrect preposition usage, and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'why anyone can not reside in that place'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some run-on sentences and issues with sentence boundaries. While the meaning is usually clear, the frequency of errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and refining complex sentence construction will be beneficial.
