Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both the benefits and disadvantages of visiting difficult locations. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. For example, the argument regarding 'confidence' is mentioned twice without adding new depth, and the discussion of disadvantages relies on vague terms like 'bad effect' and 'atrocious experience' rather than specific, concrete examples. The position is clear, but the supporting points lack the necessary detail and analytical depth required for a higher band. To improve, you should expand on your points with specific examples or logical consequences rather than restating the same ideas in different words.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical flow is frequently interrupted by awkward phrasing and mechanical use of cohesive devices. While transition words like 'Moreover', 'Nevertheless', and 'Consequently' are used, they often feel forced or do not accurately reflect the relationship between sentences. For instance, the transition 'This hypothesis is buoyed in the Idea' is unnatural. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of your argument. Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring that each sentence builds logically on the previous one will significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher score. You rely on basic, repetitive phrasing such as 'this kind of places' and 'difficult activities'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'life may be in jeopardize' (should be 'in jeopardy') and 'plough ahead with optimism', which is a slightly informal idiom for this context. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and collocations, and avoid repeating the same phrases throughout the essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'majority of people are prefer'), article usage (e.g., 'in that kind of places'), and incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'during visit this places'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several instances of missing spaces after commas and periods. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and consistent punctuation.
