Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The essay addresses both the benefits and disadvantages of visiting extreme environments. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the mention of 'ratel snake' (honey badger) and 'white bears' (polar bears) is slightly inaccurate or vague, and the explanation of why people visit these places could be more deeply explored. The position is clear throughout, but the arguments lack the depth required for a higher band. The conclusion is a bit repetitive of the main body points rather than synthesising them effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On one hand', 'Moreover', and 'To illustrate', which help the flow of the text. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and there are instances where referencing is slightly unclear, such as 'those city always face problem' in the introduction, which does not clearly link to the preceding sentence. Overall, the progression of ideas is coherent, but the use of cohesive devices could be more natural and varied.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and sophistication. There are several spelling errors ('Antartic', 'emmence', 'threteaning', 'somne') and awkward collocations like 'man can be dead' and 'very less humans'. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary, the range is limited, and the errors occasionally distract the reader. To reach a higher band, the student needs to focus on accurate spelling and more natural word choices.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('people gets thrill', 'tourist like to experience'), article usage, and sentence fragments (e.g., 'which lacks in their own city'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. The student needs to focus on basic grammatical accuracy and proofreading to ensure that complex structures are formed correctly.
