Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both the benefits and disadvantages of visiting extreme locations. However, the essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum requirement, which severely limits the development of ideas. While the prompt is addressed, the arguments are superficial and lack sufficient supporting detail or examples. For instance, the point about economic growth is unclear and lacks logical connection to the topic. To improve, you must expand each body paragraph with more detailed explanations and specific examples to meet the length requirement and demonstrate a deeper exploration of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. There is a basic attempt at using cohesive devices such as 'One major benefit', 'However', and 'In conclusion'. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed, particularly in the second paragraph where the sentence 'in our country or other country...' is confusing and lacks a clear link to the previous thought. The use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and limited. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence flows logically from the one before it.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but remains quite basic and repetitive. There are several spelling errors, such as 'extereme', 'Deasert', and 'danegerous', which detract from the overall quality. The range of vocabulary is limited, and there is little evidence of less common or more precise lexical items. To achieve a higher band score, you should aim to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to tourism and environmental impact, and pay closer attention to spelling accuracy to ensure your writing appears more professional and polished.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'living condition are', 'tourist can have') and punctuation errors. Some sentences are poorly constructed, making them difficult to understand, such as the second sentence in the second paragraph. While the meaning is generally conveyed, these persistent errors in basic grammar and sentence structure limit the score. Focusing on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and sentence completeness will help improve your accuracy significantly.
