Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to address both the benefits and disadvantages of visiting difficult environments such as the Sahara or Antarctic, but the development of ideas is limited and disjointed. For instance, the discussion of benefits touches upon enjoying nature and learning resilience, while disadvantages mention environmental neglect and negative online behaviour. However, these points lack proper expansion and are often vague. Furthermore, the response is under-length at 232 words, failing to meet the minimum requirement of 250 words, which places a ceiling on the Task Achievement score. The position is stated generally in the introduction, but the overall lack of adequate development and the length penalty restrict the score to a band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The text is divided into paragraphs, but the overall progression of ideas is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions and poor sentence structures. While basic cohesive devices such as 'Moreover' and 'In addition' are used, they are often repetitive or mechanically applied, as seen in the second paragraph. Paragraphing is attempted, but the final conclusion and body paragraphs lack internal cohesion and logical flow. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'That have some merit' at the beginning of the text, where the pronoun reference is confused. Overall, the organizational flaws and lack of clear progression align this response with a band 5.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently impeded by inaccurate word choices and word-formation errors. Examples include 'dismerit' instead of 'demerit', 'abusing other by their words', and 'making reals on the difficulties face'. The range is restricted, and attempts at less common vocabulary result in unnatural collocations or non-standard phrasing, such as 'justify the actual importance of life'. Spelling errors are also present, and the lexical limitations occasionally cause strain for the reader, placing the response firmly at a band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammatical range is extremely limited, consisting mostly of simple and attempted complex sentences that contain frequent foundational errors. Sentences often lack essential subjects or verbs, such as 'That have some merit and dismerit which will explain futher below' and 'Does't matter the environmental duties.' Punctuation and tense control are also problematic throughout the essay. The high frequency of grammatical errors often causes difficulty for the reader and obscures the intended meaning, matching the descriptors for a band 4.0.
