IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Today more and more tourists are visiting places where conditions are difficult, such as the Sahara desert or the Antarctic.

What are the benefits and disadvantages for tourists who visit such places?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

These days, a substantial number of travellers are visiting the areas with harsh weather conditions including the Sahara desert or the Antarctic. It could be beneficial in a sense as exposing yourself to the nature and to make some good memories by capturing the rare moments there. In contrast, it could be dangerous for some tourists due to the extreme weather conditionand lack of food supplies there.

There is a few significant benefits of visiting such places. The foremost benefit is that the individual moving to such places are exposed to nature and they can experience a sense of joy that they can never feel anywhere else. These places are ideal for the people who are interested in exploring nature. Another benefit is that the visitors can make photographs there and can upload on their social media acccounts afterward in order to gain appreciation. For instance, if a person visit the Sahara desert. he ccan make photographs for his own collection and also upload them on social media with his experience to that drastic place so that other people can have an idea about these areas and they can evaluate how difficult it is to stay there.

On contrary, there are obvious disadvantages of it. The most common issue is the living conditions there. As everyone is aware that there is extreme hot in the desert during the day and cold at night. Additionally, there is extreme shortage of water and food resources which can ultimately lead to drought.

Therefore, if someone is going there for a day or two along with sufficient water and food supplies, then they can visit such places. One example is the Antarctic where there is extreme cold and temprature is in minus. Consequently, the people have to rely on melted snow to get some water to drink.

To conclude, a significant number of individuals are visiting har areas as they can explore nature there and can make photograph to share their experienceon social media platforms. in contrast, they may have to go through some extreme weather condition and shortage of food and water resources
