IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Today more and more tourists are visiting places where conditions are difficult, such as the Sahara desert or the Antarctic.

What are the benefits and disadvantages for tourists who visit such places?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

In Recent years, many people prefer to visit places like Sahara desert or the Antarctic where conditions are quite miserable. There are various advantages and disadvantages for the visitors while visitng such places.

One of the most significant benefits for tourist of visiting such places where conditions are difficult is personality development. When people plan a trip to such places like Sahara desert or the Antarctic, they are planning something out of their comfort zone, which makes them confident and strong to tackle any problems in their life. Therefore, it makes people emotionally and physically strong which enhances their confidence level which is the key to the personality development.

Another benefit of visiting such places is to relax. People are so equipped with their regular duties and responsibility that they donot get sufficient time to unwind themselves. Therefore, while visiting these places, they can relax, shattered all of their worries and get them ready for the future plans. It allows them to get a break from cities busier life and spend some time with nature while exploring different places. Hence, when people feel relax, they can be more calm and build a strong relationship with their loved ones.

On the other side, critics believe that visiting places where conditions are miserable is risky for person's life. Sometimes when people visit such places, where it would be quite difficult for them to survive in severe weather conditions. At that time, it would be arduous for them to live and may face various health issues. Moreover, sometimes it would be even life threatening and they do not find any medical services nearby at those places.

Besides, another disadvantages for visitors who visitng such places is expensive. At such places, there are no such amenities, people need to carry all the stuff along with them like camping, foods, drinks and portable tents. They need to book tickets, make arrangement of living and for food.

In conclusion, tourists visiting such places because it help them in grooming themselves and facilitates them in relaxing. Moreover, it is riskier and expensive, provided that they can mange it with suitable care and following the rules.
