Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt regarding the benefits and disadvantages of visiting difficult tourist conditions, but it does so only partially. While the writer touches on positive aspects such as stress relief and cultural learning, and negative aspects like financial cost and physical danger, the ideas remain somewhat limited and under-developed. For instance, the point about visiting the Sahara desert introduces a relevant risk, but the explanation is repetitive and lacks specific, well-formulated examples from personal experience. The writer's position is visible, yet the overall development lacks the depth required to fully explore the complexities of adventure tourism.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay displays a basic level of organisation with clear paragraph breaks separating the introduction, advantages, disadvantages, and conclusion. However, there is no clear overall progression, and the logical flow between sentences is occasionally hindered by repetitive phrasing and awkward transitions such as 'To start with advantages, firstly' and 'To conclude it, whether there are disadvantages going o tours'. Cohesive devices are frequently mechanical or inaccurate, and referencing is sometimes unclear, as seen in pronoun usage throughout the body paragraphs. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion requires better management to guide the reader smoothly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some less common terms, such as 'advanterious' and 'laseur activities', but these are marred by noticeable spelling errors and incorrect word forms. There are frequent word-choice issues, such as 'mass bodys feel boaring' instead of general fatigue, and 'pressue' for pressure. These lexical shortcomings and spelling inaccuracies cause occasional difficulty for the reader and prevent the vocabulary from reaching a more flexible and precise range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer demonstrates a limited range of grammatical structures, relying primarily on simple sentences alongside faulty attempts at complex ones. Frequent errors are present in verb forms, tenses, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions within grammatical patterns. Examples of these errors include 'tourists visit' instead of tourists visiting, 'if someone stuck's somewhere' instead of gets stuck, and missing articles in phrases like 'visit out of routine work'. These frequent grammatical inaccuracies and punctuation issues frequently cause difficulty and strain for the reader throughout the text.
