Student answer (Band 6.0)
Extreme tourism is one of the growing industry of this century. Folks are more keen to travel to places such as Sahara Desert and Antarctic rather then going to Europe or Dubai. Furthermore, we will be discussing advantages and disadvantages of extreme tourism.
Firstly, as the tourism industry is shifting towards unexplored areas, it brings economic growth alongside it. Government notices the areas that were previously left unnoticed. Resources are pulled into the area and precautions are taken to conserve those natural habitats. Moreover, people who are addicted to adrenaline gets to explore places no one in their community ever has, therefore, leading to them having bragging rights. For instance, WHO and UNICEF along with other organizations are now working in Arctic and other places which were previously left unseen.
On the other hand, there are some disadvantages too. Such as endangering species who lives in these areas. Those animals untouched by humans are now facing human made trash and construcions. Forests are cut down, societies and resorts are being build to accomodate the growing demand. For example, many organizations are working together to protect species from getting endangered. Many of the tourists abuse their freedom by hunting down animals. Many of them throw non-biodegradable trash in the areas with species which leads them to getting choked or strangled.
Extreme tourism is growing soo rapidly that we are unable to counter its adverse affects. Governments and Organizations should implement laws to protect the natural eco-system in the area. Therefore leading to a safe places for species to grow and live.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses both benefits and disadvantages and gives a clear overall view that extreme tourism can bring economic activity but also harm wildlife. The economic point is relevant, as you explain that resources and conservation measures may reach previously overlooked areas. However, this benefit is not fully explained, and the example about WHO and UNICEF working in remote regions does not clearly show how tourists benefit or how tourism creates economic growth. The disadvantages are more developed through examples of habitat damage, hunting and litter. To strengthen the response, explain the direct benefits and risks for tourists themselves—for example, adventure and unique experiences versus danger, isolation or harsh weather—and support each point with a more directly relevant example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph presenting benefits, a paragraph on disadvantages, and a concluding recommendation. Sequencing expressions such as “Firstly,” “Moreover,” and “On the other hand” help readers follow the main sections. However, some links feel mechanical, and the opening promises a discussion without stating a precise position. The sentence beginning “Such as endangering species” is a fragment, while “For example” introduces a point about organisations that does not clearly illustrate the preceding claim. The final sentence also begins with “Therefore” in a way that leaves its connection to the previous sentence awkward. Group related ideas more clearly and use references and transitions that show exactly how each example supports the point.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “economic growth,” “adrenaline,” “natural habitats,” “non-biodegradable trash,” and “eco-system.” These choices make the subject clear, and some less common expressions show an attempt to be specific. However, several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or informal, such as “one of the growing industry,” “bragging rights,” and “abuse their freedom.” There are also spelling errors, including “construcions,” “accomodate,” and “affects” where “effects” is intended. These do not prevent understanding, but they reduce precision. Aim for more formal, natural phrasing and check spelling and word forms carefully; for example, describe tourism as a “growing industry” and refer to its “adverse effects.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response includes both simple sentences and attempts at more complex structures, such as “As the tourism industry is shifting towards unexplored areas, it brings economic growth alongside it.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “one of the growing industry” has a number-agreement problem, “Government notices” and “adrenaline gets” do not agree with their subjects, and “species who lives” has incorrect agreement and relative-pronoun use. The fragment “Such as endangering species” and the construction “Therefore leading to a safe places” also show problems with sentence formation. Work on subject–verb agreement, singular and plural forms, and turning sentence fragments into complete clauses. More accurate control of these patterns would make your varied sentence attempts clearer.
