Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both sides of the question: the benefits include experiencing ancient ways of life and taking on challenges, while the disadvantages include the danger of extreme heat and cold. The example of tourists dying in Antarctica also supports the risk you describe. However, the benefits are only briefly stated, and the discussion does not clearly explain how visiting these places benefits tourists beyond seeing scenery or seeking adventure. The opening focuses heavily on why people choose these destinations, rather than developing the requested benefits and disadvantages. Your conclusion gives a general recommendation to prepare, but does not clearly summarise both sides. Develop each main idea with a specific explanation or example, and make your overall position clearer.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic overall structure, with an opening, a paragraph discussing advantages and disadvantages, and a concluding statement. Some linking expressions, such as “in addition” and “on the other hand,” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, the opening is one very long paragraph, and the main discussion combines both sides without clearly separating or sequencing them. Several ideas run together, making the progression difficult to follow; for example, the discussion moves from ancient culture to hiking, media, safari, and then survival risks. Use distinct paragraphs for benefits and drawbacks, and organise each around one main point. Shorter sentences and clearer references would make the connections between ideas easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “challenging,” “extreme cold,” “desert safari,” and “survive,” so the reader can identify the main subject and risks. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “places,” “visits,” and “kinds of places.” Some choices are inaccurate or unclear, such as “difficults things,” “attending these types of places,” and “having ourselves their,” which can make the meaning harder to understand. Spelling errors such as “antaractic,” “anciet,” and “survive” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise set of expressions for travel, exploration, and environmental hazards, and check spelling and collocations when editing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences, and there are some simple clauses that communicate the main points, such as the statement that tourists may die in extreme conditions. However, complex sentences are often difficult to control, and frequent errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence boundaries sometimes obscure meaning. For example, “some visitor are going” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “folks are also visits” combines incompatible verb forms. The opening paragraph contains several clauses joined without clear punctuation, and the conclusion’s “a large number of tourists are just like to visits” is grammatically unclear. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check each sentence for a clear subject and verb.
