Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this contemporary era, more and more tourists are visiting difficult condition places, such as the Sahara desert or the Antarctic. These types of places are rarely visited in the past time. So, this generation wants to explore such continents for fun and to expand their knowledge. The negative side of these places to tourists could be a life threat and financial cost.

The main purpose of any tourist is to explore distinct areas for fun as enjoying life while facing extreme conditions provide more pleasure to them. Another benefit is the expansion of knowledge which means there are plenty of people who wants to gain exerience in rare animals, birds or species to give society new concepts about rare places. For example, TV shows such as Man vs Wild based on the same aspect. It had taught many people to survive in difficult conditions along with witnessing diverse natural resorces.

There could be a number of demerits of exploring abundant places but the biggest drawback is the risk of life. People touring such continents could be circumstaced to face life threatning conditions such as feasts, food starving, illness or adverse weather that could lead them to death. Additionally, financial expenditure is also a major disadvantage of this as in order to go to such places, individuals needs to go through many medical, insurance, visas application processes which costs a huge amount of money. For instance, if someone wants to go to the Atlantic they are required to do medical testing, need insurance coverage and book a cruise.

In conclusion, for visitors exploring these types of areas is a recreational activity and helps in amplifying their knowledge but its drawbacks such as financial cost and mortal activites should also considered before taking such decisions.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the question and give a clear overall view: visiting remote environments can be enjoyable and educational, but it brings danger and expense. The examples of learning about wildlife and arranging a cruise help make the benefits and costs relevant. However, some points are less fully developed than others. The educational benefit is linked to a television programme, but the explanation of how tourists themselves gain knowledge could be clearer; likewise, the risks are listed without explaining how they might be managed or affect a trip. The reference to the “Atlantic” is also imprecise for the examples in the prompt. The response is on task, but more specific explanation and examples would strengthen its coverage. (Eight words copied from the task prompt were not counted.)

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for benefits and disadvantages, and a conclusion that restates the main points. This makes the progression easy to follow, and signposts such as “Another benefit,” “Additionally,” and “In conclusion” help the reader identify relationships between ideas. To make the organisation more flexible and precise, connect explanations more explicitly rather than relying mainly on these formulaic transitions. For example, the sentence about “Man vs Wild” could be followed by a direct link to what a visitor might learn or experience. Some references are also unclear, particularly “these types of areas” and “this” in the discussion of costs. Clearer referencing and smoother links between claims and examples would build on the coherent arrangement already present.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “extreme conditions,” “diverse natural resources,” “insurance coverage,” and “adverse weather.” These choices show an effort to discuss the subject beyond basic terms. However, several inaccurate or unnatural expressions make the meaning less clear and limit precision: “difficult condition places,” “abundant places,” “feasts” (apparently intended to mean beasts or wildlife), and “mortal activities.” There are also spelling errors such as “exerience,” “resorces,” and “threatning.” Aim for accurate collocations and check spelling, especially for key terms. Using straightforward, precise phrases such as “remote destinations,” “wild animals,” and “fatal risks” would communicate your ideas more reliably than ambitious but unclear wording.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple sentences and attempts at more complex structures, including “as enjoying life while facing extreme conditions provide more pleasure” and the sentence beginning “People touring such continents could be…” This gives the response some structural variety, and the main message is generally understandable. Some errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction remain. For example, “there are plenty of people who wants” should use a plural verb, while “individuals needs” also requires plural agreement. In “which costs a huge amount,” the verb should agree with the plural processes, and “should also considered” needs a passive form (“should also be considered”). Review agreement and verb patterns, then proofread complex sentences to ensure their clauses are complete and clearly connected.
