Student answer (Band 6.0)
A number of visitors are now visiting places where conditions are not good for instance, Sahara desert or the Antarctic. This essay will discuss both the merits and demerits of visitng such places in the subsequent paragraphs.
Experiencing the different weather conditons such as extreme cold or intense heat is one of the foremeost merits of going to such places. To explain it, people often loves to have different adventures in their lifetime so stepping out of the comfort zone gives them a chance to feel the cold weather of Antartica and the intense heat of Sahara desert that they cannot feel at home. Another benefits include witnessing the wildlife closer than expected. As these places are the homes of various species for example, penguins lives in a cold weather of Antartica, so people goes there and see them which give them more educational knowledge and a sense of adventure both at a same time. Hence these are the benefits of going to these places.
There are demerits of visiting these places that includes threats to the wildlife. To elaborate it, if people starts visitng these places, it can leave a footprint of making other people the desperation of going there which can cause the species to extinct. Moreover, medical aid at the time of need can cause serious problems. Providing basic facilities related to health in these islolated areas can take hours or days which can lead to a person's death.
In conclusion, although visitng to such places has a number of benefits, yet its demerits cannot be neglected.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the question by presenting benefits—experiencing extreme climates and seeing wildlife—and disadvantages, including risks to animals and limited access to medical help. The position is clear in the introduction and conclusion, and the examples of penguins and delayed medical assistance are relevant. However, some ideas are more fully explained than others: the wildlife benefit is linked to educational value, while the claim that tourism could cause species to become extinct is asserted without explaining the mechanism or giving a specific example. Develop each point with clearer reasoning and, where possible, a concrete illustration to make the discussion more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph on benefits, a paragraph on disadvantages, and a conclusion. Ideas generally progress in a logical order, and signposting such as “To explain it,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion” helps readers follow the discussion. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some of the flexibility associated with stronger cohesion. However, several transitions feel formulaic, and “Hence these are the benefits” repeats the paragraph’s point rather than advancing it. Some references are also unclear, particularly “these places” in the medical-aid sentence. Use more natural links between cause and effect, and make references explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The response uses enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate its main ideas, including “extreme cold,” “intense heat,” “wildlife,” “isolated areas,” and “medical aid.” It also attempts more formal expressions such as “merits and demerits.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making a sentence difficult to interpret. For example, “making other people the desperation of going there” does not clearly express the intended effect of tourism, and “witnessing the wildlife closer than expected” is unnatural. Spelling errors such as “Antartica,” “visitng,” and “conditons” also reduce accuracy. Build a bank of natural collocations and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
There is a mix of simple sentences and attempts at complex structures, including clauses beginning “if” and “which,” as well as explanations introduced by “To explain it” and “To elaborate it.” The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur across the response. Examples include subject–verb agreement in “people often loves,” “penguins lives,” and “people goes,” and the construction “if people starts visitng.” There are also problems with articles and number, as in “Another benefits,” and with sentence construction in “Providing basic facilities related to health in these isolated areas can take hours or days.” Review agreement, singular and plural forms, and how clauses are joined; then proofread each sentence for a clear grammatical structure.
