Student answer (Band 6.0)

In today's rapidly changing world, visiting dangerous places such as the Sahara desert and Antarctic has become extermely popular. While some people believe that such destinations offers unique experiences, other argue that both aeras are exposed to extreme weather conditions. This essay will examine both perspectives before presenting my own view.

To begin with, there are several reasons why people support these challanging destinations. The primary benefit is that tourists can explore unique landscapes, glaciers and exortic aminals. This is because these environuments offer unique opportunitties for to discover wildlife wich can lead to enhace greater knowledge and unforgetable experiences. For example, visiting Antarctic allow tourists to see spectacular iceberg and pengunis. Furthermore, visiting such places can boost confidence and personal development. Therefore, it is understandable why many people favour this perspective.

On the other hand, there are also convincing arguments against visitng such destinations. One significant concern is that unperdictable weather conditions can threaten tuorist's safety. In other words, freezing tempratures, intense heat and limited access of medical facilities can make these journeys more dangerous, pontentially resulting in serious health problems. For instance, tourists exploring the Sahara Desert can face dehydration if they do not carrt suficent water. Moreover, travelling remote locations can be extremely expensive. Thus, the disadvantages also deserve careful consideration.

In conclusion, both places have their own merits and limitations. While these journeys provide unique experience and valueable knowledge, the dangers and hgh costs should not be overlooked. In my opinon such trips are rewarding they offer opportunities to explore nature, provided that tourists perpare carefully and follow apporpiate safety measures.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both sides of the question and give a clear personal view: the essay identifies distinctive scenery and wildlife, personal development, safety risks, and expense, then concludes that such trips can be rewarding with preparation. The examples of Antarctic wildlife and dehydration in the Sahara make the points relevant. This meets the task well, but the benefits are more fully explained than the costs, which are stated briefly without showing how expense affects tourists or access. Some claims, such as gaining “greater knowledge,” would also benefit from a clearer explanation of what visitors learn. To strengthen the response further, develop each main point with a specific consequence or example and maintain the same depth across both sides.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a benefits paragraph, a disadvantages paragraph, and a conclusion that restates your position. Signposting such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” helps readers follow the argument, and examples are placed alongside relevant points. However, the progression within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, with repeated transitions such as “Therefore” and “Thus” doing more work than the explanation itself. Some links between ideas are also abrupt: the discussion moves from wildlife to personal development without showing how these benefits relate. Improve cohesion by using clearer cause-and-effect links and by connecting each example explicitly to the point it supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a useful range of topic vocabulary, including “extreme weather conditions,” “glaciers,” “unpredictable weather,” “medical facilities,” and “dehydration.” These choices suit the subject and generally allow the reader to understand your ideas. However, spelling errors are frequent and sometimes obscure otherwise appropriate vocabulary, for example “extermely,” “challanging,” “exortic,” and “unforgetable.” There are also inaccurate word forms or collocations, such as “unique opportunitties for to discover” and “travelling remote locations.” This limits the precision and control expected at a stronger level. Proofread carefully, learn common collocations as complete phrases, and choose precise terms rather than repeating “unique” and “places.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex forms, including a concession in “While some people believe…” and a conditional clause in “provided that tourists prepare carefully.” Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, and the overall argument remains understandable. Some grammatical errors persist, however, particularly with subject–verb agreement, articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries. For example, “such destinations offers” should use a plural verb, while “visiting Antarctic allow tourists” needs a singular gerund subject and a plural noun for the visible icebergs. The final opinion sentence also needs clearer punctuation and a linking word before “they offer.” Review agreement and article use, and check that each sentence has a clear grammatical connection between its clauses.
