Student answer (Band 6.0)

Humans have the inborn desire of exploration right from the beginning of the civilization. However, nowadays, it has become a more popular idea because of easier means of transportation.Previously, people were more interested in visting places with beautiful landscape or historical sites, yet ,currently, people chose to divert from this trend and go for challenging places.

Most of the tourists prefer to visit places that present challenge to them. Presently, people set out for sahara desert because they want to experience something totally different from the typical tourist sites. They get exposed to harsh weather, dangerous reptiles and scarcity of water. This inturn makes them physically stronger.

Moreover, they get to see places that are out of reach of most of us.They take the risk of being more adventurous for example tourists travelling antarctica get to see the northern lights at night whish is a totally different and breath taking experience.

Inspite of the tremendous amount of adventure, these poeple continously jeopardize their lives.Places like sahara desert or antarctica are not free of danger. For instance. the extreme temperatures at the north pole cause hazards like frostbite that irreversible damages the toes and fingers.Similarly, the natural habitat of sahara has poisonous insects and reptiles and their attacks can be fatal. For example, sting by a rattle snake can be deadly within few minutes.

To sum up, there is no doubt that tourists have become more adventurous with their choices but the grave consequences of visiting such places should be considered and the visitors should get better eqippped before planning to set out to such challenging places.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the question and maintain a clear overall view: difficult destinations offer unusual experiences and physical challenge, but also expose visitors to serious danger. The examples of harsh weather, water scarcity, frostbite and dangerous animals are relevant. However, some benefits are asserted rather than explained: saying the experience “makes them physically stronger” needs support, and the claim about seeing the northern lights in Antarctica is inaccurate, since the aurora australis is seen there. The disadvantages are more fully illustrated than the benefits, and the conclusion mainly repeats the warning rather than weighing the two sides. Develop each benefit with a clear explanation and use accurate, specific examples to make the discussion more convincing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph on benefits, a paragraph on risks, and a concluding summary. This gives the reader a coherent overall route through the discussion. You also use linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Similarly,” and “To sum up.” At times, however, connections feel mechanical or unclear. The opening contrast between traditional sightseeing and challenging destinations is not fully connected to the main discussion, while “This inturn” has an unclear reference. Some punctuation around transitions and examples also interrupts the flow. Make the topic sentence of each body paragraph state its main point directly, and connect each example explicitly to the benefit or disadvantage it supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a reasonable range of topic-related vocabulary, including “harsh weather,” “scarcity of water,” “jeopardize their lives,” and “extreme temperatures.” These choices help communicate the risks and appeal of remote travel. However, several spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, including “visting,” “poeple,” “continously,” and “eqippped.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise: “inborn desire of exploration” and “take the risk of being more adventurous” do not express the ideas idiomatically. “Northern lights” is also not the right term for the aurora visible in Antarctica. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations so that your vocabulary sounds natural as well as varied.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a contrast with “However” and a relative clause in “places that present challenge to them.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical and punctuation errors affect accuracy. For example, “Humans have the inborn desire of exploration right from the beginning of the civilization” has problems with article use and the noun phrase, while “people chose to divert” shifts tense awkwardly in a present-day discussion. There are also run-on or poorly punctuated sentences, such as the opening, where full stops are followed immediately by the next sentence. Use consistent present tense for general claims, check articles and sentence boundaries, and revise complex sentences to ensure each clause is complete.
